Eschatology
Christian theology concerning the end of history and the afterlife: heaven (eternal communion with God), hell (separation from God), purgatory (Catholic intermediate state), resurrection of the dead, and final judgment. Eschatology includes both personal (individual judgment and afterlife) and cosmic (end of world, Christ's return) dimensions.
Real World
C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle (1956) depicts a final judgment and new creation, popularising eschatological ideas for general audiences and reflecting mainstream Protestant eschatology.
Exam Focus
Distinguish personal eschatology (individual death and judgment) from cosmic eschatology (parousia and resurrection); conflating them is a common exam error.
