Suffrage and the Franchise
The right to vote in elections, and the history of how that right has been gradually extended to include all adult citizens.
Real World
The Representation of the People Act 1918 gave women over 30 with property the vote partly in recognition of women's contributions during World War One — yet the same Act also enfranchised all men over 21, deliberately maintaining a gender gap for another decade.
Exam Focus
Sequence key franchise extensions chronologically (1832, 1867, 1884, 1918, 1928, 1969) — examiners reward precise dates over vague references.
