Limited narrator
A third-person narrative voice whose knowledge and perception are limited to a single character's viewpoint, consciousness, and information. The limited narrator cannot access other characters' internal states unless the viewpoint character learns them.
Real World
In Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go, readers experience Hailsham entirely through Kathy H.'s limited perspective, only gradually realising the horrifying truth about the students' purpose because she herself is slow to understand it.
Exam Focus
Name the focalising character and explain what the reader cannot know because of the limitation.
