Resolution types
Different endings for conflicts and narratives: comic resolution (happy endings, restoration of order), tragic resolution (inevitable downfall, unresolved suffering), and ambiguous resolution (uncertain or partial conclusions).
Real World
Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream ends with multiple marriages restoring social harmony (comic resolution), whereas Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman ends with Willy Loman's suicide and his family's unresolved grief (tragic resolution).
