Quota Sampling
A non-random sampling method where the population is divided into strata and the researcher selects members from each stratum until reaching a predetermined quota for that stratum.
Real World
A street market researcher for a TV channel is told to interview 30 men and 30 women aged 18–30 about streaming habits, choosing whoever is available — meaning personal judgement, not randomness, fills each quota.
Exam Focus
When asked to give a disadvantage of quota sampling, state that selection within quotas is non-random, introducing interviewer bias.
