Judgmental Sampling
Judgmental (purposive) sampling relies on the researcher's judgment to select a sample. Items are chosen because they're believed representative or particularly informative, not through randomisation.
Real World
A Netflix researcher selects 20 heavy binge-watchers for a focus group because they believe these users will give the most useful feedback on a new recommendation algorithm.
