A two-way table (or contingency table precursor) presents frequencies or probabilities for two categorical variables, with one variable represented by rows and the other by columns, allowing direct reading of joint and marginal probabilities.

Spotify's internal data teams use two-way tables to cross-tabulate listener age group against preferred genre, reading off joint and marginal frequencies directly to target adverts.
