Ionic bonding
Ionic bonding
Real World
The sodium chloride in table salt (NaCl) consists of Na⁺ and Cl⁻ ions in a face-centred cubic lattice — the same ionic structure that makes it melt at 801 °C but dissolve readily in water.
Exam Focus
When 'explain ionic bonding', always mention electron transfer, the charges formed, and the electrostatic attraction — all three points are needed for full marks.
